Member-only story
I have a terrible time meeting new people and I am just sharing my experience to show that you are not the only one. There are many ways to improve and I will list it for you. Don’t worry, I am still having a hard time but we can struggle together and work our way up!
Are you socially awkward?
A person that is socially awkward often overthinks their actions whether they have done the right thing or not. They want to socialize and meet with new people however, they struggle to communicate because they are so anxious about what others think of them. They are often very reluctant and quiet if they can’t say anything else that can keep a conversation going.
Here are my personal experiences:
- Terrible eye contact
I often look down or away from people since eye contact is the most intimidating body part. When I do accidentally look into their eyes, I look away which can cause some unfortunate misconceptions.
2. Your small circle of friends has been with you for years
The people that I am only actually close with were the people I knew since primary school. They are still the people I am most comfortable with to this day. Everyone else around me makes me nervous.
